International removals
From LutonInternational removals from Luton
Moving from Luton to Europe? We run regular removals from the LU postcodes to France, Spain, Italy and Portugal — surveyed properly, wrapped for the road, and cleared through customs so nothing gets stuck at the border.
An overseas move is a bigger undertaking than a hop across town, but the idea is the same one we work to on every Luton job: know the plan, deal with the same friendly crew from start to finish, and no nasty surprises on the day. Whether it is a family relocating for work, a couple retiring to the sun, or a household following the rest of the family abroad, we take the moving part off your plate.
Most of our European work starts right here in Luton — a load collected from a terrace near Bury Park or a semi out at Stopsley, out onto the M1 at Junction 10 or 11, and away. But we also collect from further afield for anyone relocating from across the country: if you are moving from London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Glasgow, Edinburgh or Bristol, we can build the pickup into the route. Wherever you start, the destination end is the same careful hand-over.
Where we go
Removals from Luton to Europe
These are the routes we know inside out and hold dedicated pages for. Each one has its own page with the roads we take, the regions we cover and the customs detail for that country. Moves further afield in Europe are available on request — just ask.
Removals from Luton to France
The busiest route out of Luton — down through Kent to the Dover ferry or the Eurotunnel at Folkestone, then onto the French autoroutes for Paris, Normandy, the Dordogne or the south.
Removals from Luton to Spain
A long haul we run regularly — across France and down into Spain for the Costa Blanca, the Costa del Sol, Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia or a ferry hop to the Balearics.
Removals from Luton to Italy
Through France and over the Alps by tunnel into northern Italy — Milan and the lakes, down through Tuscany to Florence, and on to Rome.
Removals from Luton to Portugal
The far south-west corner of Europe — through France, across Spain and into Portugal for Lisbon, the Algarve, Porto or the Silver Coast.
How a European move works
Six steps, from your door in Luton to your new home abroad
Every international move follows the same shape. Knowing it up front takes a lot of the worry out of the process.
- Survey. We go through what is moving and check access at your Luton address — parking, stairs, the tight streets some of the older terraces have — so the plan is real.
- Plan and quote. We put together the route, the vehicle, and whether a part-load or a dedicated van makes more sense, and send a written quote with a clear estimated window rather than a promise we cannot keep.
- Export wrap and pack. On the day, everything is wrapped to travel — export-standard protection for the long haul, with a full inventory made as we load.
- Customs paperwork. We prepare the declarations and the valued inventory, and apply for Transfer of Residence relief where you are eligible, so the border is a formality rather than a hold-up.
- Transit. Your goods cross by ferry or tunnel and travel by road to the destination country. We keep you posted along the way.
- Delivery and unpack. At the far end we carry in, place furniture, rebuild what we dismantled and take the packing away if you want us to.
Since Brexit
The honest bit about customs
Moving household goods to the EU changed after Brexit. It is not difficult, but it does mean paperwork that did not exist before, and it is worth being straight about that. A move to France, Spain, Italy or Portugal now needs a customs declaration and a detailed, valued inventory of everything you are taking. If you are moving your main home and meet the conditions, Transfer of Residence relief usually means your used personal belongings come in without duty — we help you apply for it.
The practical upshot is simple: pack thoughtfully, list things honestly, and let us handle the forms. We prepare the customs side with you so nothing is missed and your goods are not sitting at a border because a document was wrong. It is part of the service, not an add-on you chase yourself.
Part-load or dedicated
Two ways to fill a van
Part-load (shared)
Your belongings share space on a vehicle already running your route. It is the kinder option for a smaller move — a flat, a few rooms, the contents of a retirement downsize. Timing is a little more flexible because it fits around the wider schedule, and your written quote will include an estimated window.
Dedicated van
A vehicle just for your move, loaded in Luton and driven straight to your new address. It suits a full household, tighter timing, or a move where you want a direct door-to-door run with no other stops. More of the vehicle is yours, so it carries more.
What's included
What comes with an international move from Luton
-
A proper survey first
We look over what is going — a video call or a home visit — so the quote reflects the real load and the access at both ends, not a guess.
-
Export-standard wrapping
Furniture and fragile items are wrapped for a long road journey, not just a cross-town hop. Things are padded, boxed and loaded to survive the miles.
-
Customs paperwork handled
Since Brexit a move to the EU needs customs declarations and a valued inventory. We prepare the paperwork with you, including Transfer of Residence relief where you qualify.
-
Part-load or a dedicated van
Share the space and the cost of a vehicle already heading your way, or take a van of your own for a direct door-to-door run. We will talk you through which suits your move.
-
Goods-in-transit cover
Your belongings are covered on the road and on the crossing. We explain what the cover includes and where a higher level makes sense.
-
Delivery and unpack
We do not just drop and go. Boxes go to the right rooms, big furniture is rebuilt, and we clear the packing away if you would like us to.
